Disposable CGM Approved; Mounjaro Tied to Reduced Mortality; Benefits of Lignins

Medtronic announced FDA approval of its first disposable, all-in-one continuous glucose monitor (CGM) Simplera, which is half the size of the maker’s previous devices.

Over a median follow-up of 10.5 months, the dual GIP/GLP-1 receptor agonist tirzepatide (Mounjaro) for adults with type 2 diabetes was associated with a 42% reduced risk of death, a 20% reduced risk of major adverse cardiovascular events, and a 46% reduced risk of major adverse kidney events versus a GLP-1 receptor agonist.
