Even chronic hepatitis B patients on nucleos(t)ide analogue therapy for longer than 10 years remain at elevated risk for HCC, according to research in the Journal of Hepatology.

A meta-analysis of sham-controlled trials backed acupuncture for easing irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) symptoms. (Gastroenterology)

In a single-center study, newly proposed Rome V criteria for IBS had lower sensitivity compared with Rome III or IV criteria. (Lancet Gastroenterology & Hepatology)

A study involving inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) patients found that TNF inhibitors and methotrexate together were not associated with increased cancer risk compared with anti-TNF alone. (Inflammatory Bowel Diseases)

In Crohn’s disease, transmural healing was associated with better long-term outcomes versus endoscopic or radiologic healing alone, according to retrospective data. (Inflammatory Bowel Diseases)

A real-world study in Crohn’s disease suggested that biologic prophylaxis initiation beyond 12 weeks from an ileocolonic resection increases endoscopic recurrence risk. (Inflammatory Bowel Diseases)

Children randomized to first-line infliximab (Zymfentra) for Crohn’s disease had a longer time until next advanced therapy versus those initially assigned to conventional therapy (65 vs 31 weeks), according to 5-year follow-up of the TISKids trial. (Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology)

Higher body mass index in IBD was linked with lower ustekinumab (Stelara) drug concentrations. (Inflammatory Bowel Diseases)

JAMA published a review on alcohol-related liver disease.

No age group is spared from the increased diabetes risk among people with metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease, a large prospective cohort study from China indicated. (Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology)

A validation study showed that a pan-elastography machine-learning model can accurately predict clinically significant portal hypertension in patients with compensated advanced chronic liver disease. (Journal of Hepatology)
