As the 2026 American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) annual meeting approaches, MedPage Today is offering a preview of an upcoming roundtable on new and emerging developments in atopic dermatitis.
In this introductory episode, moderator Peter Lio, MD, a clinical assistant professor of dermatology and pediatrics at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, highlights the treatment pathways, long-term data, and pipeline activity expected to drive conversation among the roundtable panelists after AAD.
Following is a transcript of his remarks:
Lio: Hello and welcome to this Atopic Dermatitis Roundtable. I’m Dr. Peter Lio. I’m a clinical assistant professor of dermatology and pediatrics at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois. And I’m delighted to be here with two amazing colleagues.
What an exciting time to be focused on atopic dermatitis, both for the patients and for us. There is so much happening in the world of atopic dermatitis, and there is a lot on the slate that is going to be discussed.
Everything from updates in the OX40 system, to totally new treatment pathways, to lots more of the long-term extension data coming out. So incredible.
And then the pipeline looks fantastic. There’s a number of things that people are looking into, including some really sophisticated things that are going to be even cytokine targeting topical agents. So we are going to learn a lot about the state of the art and the landscape of atopic dermatitis, and I cannot wait.
