A New York physical therapy (PT) clinic manager was convicted of paying cash kickbacks to ambulette drivers who recruited Medicare patients to the clinic, and for falsifying medical records to show that therapists who weren’t at the clinic treated the patients, according to the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ).

The Federal Trade Commission said it has required Ascension Health Alliance to divest several surgery centers before it can complete its acquisition of AmSurg.

Two physicians in Massachusetts were accused of illegally prescribing controlled substances, including to patients with a known history of substance use disorder or overdoses, the state’s attorney general announced.

Tennessee nurse practitioner Heather Marks was convicted for prescribing nearly a million opioid pills to almost 1,000 patients over about a year and a half, including to patients whom she allegedly knew were selling opioids on the street, the DOJ said.
