Omnipod Pod Recall; Afrezza OK’d for Kids 6 and Up; CVS to Cover Zepbound Again

Insulet initiated a voluntary device correction of certain Omnipod pods due to a manufacturing defect that causes insulin to leak rather than being fully delivered into the body, the FDA alerted. This action is separate from the company’s correction issued in March.

The agency also expanded approval of inhaled mealtime insulin (Afrezza) to include children ages 6 years and older with type 1 and type 2 diabetes, said maker MannKind.

From 2007 to 2023, systemic menopausal hormone therapy use among women 40 and older dropped from 4.4% to 1.7%, medical and pharmacy claims data showed. (Mayo Clinic Proceedings)

A review in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism detailed the potent anti-inflammatory effects of GLP-1 medications, positioning the drugs “as promising candidates for broader therapeutic applications.”
